NOT AS DAUNTING A TASK AS YOU MIGHT IMAGINE !
|
|

|
Especially using the Plans with Full Size Paterns from GLEN of
California. plus the freely available advice and guidance always
available from me. CORDIAL INVITATION exists for anyhone to visit
our waterside Boatyard, in MONKSTOWN CREEK, where I wil be only
too happy to discuss every aspect of your project., and where you
will almost certainly be able to see already completed GLEN L designs.
Since building my first glen L. design back in 1967 which was a
15 ft Mini Cruiser called the "CRUISETTE" I have spent
most of the last THIRTY FIVE YEARS invvolved in the building very
successfully of thousands of these designs. Not only did my expertise
derive from this aspect alone, I am also an accomplished sailor.

My first Sailboat was a Glen L. 17 back in the early 70's and later
- the boat I enjoyed most of all was a GLEN L21CB, which we called
"BEE-VEE" as a tribute to Bill Verity, who was a lone
ATLANTIC single handed Sailor of much repute, and sadly now deceased,
and from whom I learned an amazing amount of Boat lore. HE was indeed
one of the very first tremendously adept expert old-school shipwrights
who got a grip on what was then an entirely new method of Boatbuilding.
The application of G.R.P. (Glass reinforced Plastics) using Polyester
Resin_ WALLAH!.. the very first Fibreglass Boat. which heralded
the concept of what we know to-day with many other advances and
developments in between and especially the arrival of impermeable
EPOXY resins.

THE VERY FIRST STEP is for you to chose a suitable design. and
without further delay purchase from us the Plans with the Full Size
Patterns. Indeed, even before making this decision, bear in mind
that for a lot of the Glen L designs - Study Plan Brochures are
available for nominal prices, and these give you much more information
than you already have in our Book of Boat Designs, including lots
of design drawings of various parts of your intended boat and as
well contain a detailed and exact Bill of Materials, listing virtually
every item of material you will require to build your very own boat.,
and enabing you to make that final decision to purchase the complete
Plan Set. Once these are in your hands - YOU ARE STARTED, and the
bug has bit!...., and rarely have I seen anyone fail to accomplish
their intended project and it has been a great pleasure to witness
the joy and satisfaction when that notable day arrives, and your
boat is launched into the water for the first time.
|
|
It would take pages for me to acquaint you of the easy tasks in
front of you, and indeed our "Book of Designs"is most
complete and will give you all the information you require, but
never hesitate to give me a ring. if |I can assist you in any way.
Right now I have one customer wh op lives near Blarney and who is
well advanced in the building of the "TANGO" (a drop keel
4 berth sloop) and yet another in Kinsale who is just about to start
building the Aluminium version of the Double Eagle, there ius yet
another "Double Eagle here in the yard - first launched over
two years ago and which Timmy the intrepid builder, is forever improving,
and with great satisfaction. Timmy an expert Diesel Engineer is
Chairman of one of Cork Harbour's very active Sea Angling Clubs,
and he is forever rejoicng the attribtes of his self built boat.
